Scam, ripoff...AVOID

Posted byKelly R.on 12/22/2007

This business is a ripoff. They charge 2-3X what the dealer charges for a given repair. I have the records to prove it. They are charming con artists, nothing more. Here's the story: I knew that the brakes were not working properly. When University Foreign Car told me the the repairs would cost $1500, I asked them to tell me exactly they needed to repair (the specific parts), and how much the parts and labor would cost. I then called the dealer and told them what needed to be repaired, both the parts and the labor. The dealer told me that the parts would cost one-third of what U Foreign Car quoted. And the dealer told me the work on the car would cost *half* of the labor charge quoted by UFC. I called UFC back and double checked on what they intended to do, making sure I understood the repair. I had it right. I then PICKED UP THE CAR FROM UFC, PAID THEM FOR THE ESTIMATE, WENT TO THE DEALER AND ENDED UP SAVING $700 DOLLARS ON THE REPAIR, even after you subtract the 50 bucks I paid to UFC. DON'T GO TO UNIVERSITY FOREIGN CAR. CALL ELSEWHERE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Simply horrible, very bad work.

I had University Foreign Car replace the clutch on my 2001 vw golf, and it is worse than ever. I paid a fortune, about $1900, and I am 100% certain they did not replace most of the parts. They refused to return them to me, per michigan law as well. I had the car reviewed by the dealer, and they said that the clutch was not installed properly, they did not flush and bleed the hydraulic lines, or torqed down any bolts properly. The clutch vibrates enough to cause the car to stall occasionally. UFC refuses to repair, or pay for the repairs on my car. The car is almost undriveable, and I cannot afford another clutch. I will never, ever recommend this shop to anyone. They were rude, and provided false assurances, and an empty guarantee of satisfaction.

Perfect for your Honda or Toyota

I own four cars and two of them happen to be imports. As you can guess owning an import in Michigan isn't exactly like owning and import over in California where the eye looks toward efficiency and reliability. Thus, when it comes to auto repair it is challenging to find a decent mechanic. However, University Foreign Car will get the job done right and the first time for a great rate. I've been really happy with them.

Honest Work!

This is one of the best places in the Lansing area to get your foreign car fixed. I had been taking it to the dealer and they always seemed to overcharge me and not do the work that needed to be done. The guys at this place even drove me back to work and picked me up while my car was getting fixed. It cost half the price that the dealer wanted to charge me and it even came with a warranty. They provide fast, honest, good work on your car and have great customer service.
